Directions:

This assignment is designed to be an in-depth investigation into a particular topic that we have covered in class. The investigation will include researching primary literature, finding a TED Talk or science podcast, and developing new and innovative research questions that could push the study on this topic. The expectations for this assignment are high and the grading will follow a strict rubric.

STEPS OF ASSIGNMENT: Epigenetics Paper

1. Pick a topic from the list below. These topics cover concepts that we have learned in class. Your topic must be submitted by April 1 11:59 pm. Failure to have a topic submitted by this deadline will result in a 0 on the assignment. See Canvas for more details.

2. Once your topic is submitted, you should research primary literature from the journals on the list below. ONLY scientific articles from these journals will suffice as primary literature for the paper. Failure to include three scientific articles from these journals will result in points deducted on this assignment.

3. Find 1 TED Talk or science podcast related to your topic. The source of your TED Talk or podcast should be included in the paper as an in-text citation, as well as in the works cited section at the end of the paper. Failure to include a TED Talk or podcast with the proper citations will result in points deducted on this assignment.

4. Follow the paper outline below for how to structure your paper. All parts of the outline should be addressed in your paper, or you may lose points.

5. Use the rubric at the end of this assignment to check that you have completed all parts of the assignment and included all resources.

6. Submit your assignment to the TurnItIn link posted on Canvas by Sunday, April 11 11:59 pm. No late submissions or submissions not properly submitted via TurnItIn will be accepted for this Epigenetics Paper assignment.

In addition, students should avoid using large block quotes in their paper, even if these are cited. Students are expected to paraphrase and rewrite ideas in their own words.
